Happy 1st Birthday Wyatt!

Happy 1st Birthday, Wyatt! I was fully content with how every single one of these photos came out to celebrate baby Wyatt’s first birthday. Wyatt’s mamma, Liz, had so many amazing ideas and outfits picked out, which made my job easy in the creative process. Its better to come over prepared than under! We had so many options to choose from and every outfit had the perfect backdrop in Lake George, NY.

The only thing that was working against us during this shoot was the weather. This spring’s weather has been so rainy and unpredictable. I think we tried to reschedule this shoot a solid 5 times until the weather wanted to cooperate. Thankfully we were able to skip out on the rain, but then I had to find a way to work with the high 12:30 sun. To those of you who aren’t immersed in the photography world, high sun is not always a photographer’s friend. It creates harsh shadows especially on a person’s face and it isn’t always the most flattering. In my opinion, right around sunset is the best time for portraits because of the super soft light. Thankfully, there are ways to work around that harsh sunlight. For Wyatt’s shoot, we did a ton of backlighting, diffusing, and shooting in shadows. This way, you are able to focus on all the cuteness going on instead of being distracted by any unflattering light!

My favorite outfit was defiantly the jeans and overalls with no shirt. I was obsessed with the field backdrop with all of the dandelions behind him for that outfit. Also the last scene we shot with the cake smash was the absolute cutest. Honestly all of it was the cutest. Who am I kidding?

50 years together

Congrats to Jim and Heidi Lewis on their 50th anniversary! On May 4th, at the 1925 Barn in Hudson Falls, NY, family and friends gathered to surprise the happy couple and celebrate! The interior set the perfect scene with its home like feel, but spacious structure and beauuuutttiful lights! Around 4:45, all of the guests gathered around the door and waited anxiously for Jim, and Heidi to pull up to the barn. When they walked in, everyone cheered and it was awesome to see the surprise and awe on their faces. After mingling and saying hello to all of their loved ones who traveled there, the family met my assistant and I outside for some portraits. We got the big group shot out of the way first and might I say, that I was IMPRESSED with how they handled it. Never in my experience have I seen a family arrange themselves so perfectly for a group shot with little to no direction. In a normally case, I have to place about 75% of everyone in a group shot, but they knew exactly what to do and exactly where to be. Jim and Heidi were glowing the whole time and we so cute together as well. After portraits came the food and more time to chat with old friends. We also got shots of most of the guests for the happy couple to remember who came and celebrated! Thank you to the Lewis Family for making Autumn Moon Portraits a part of your special day. We hope these photos make you dance the night away!
