A needed adventure

It’s been a while since I've taken photos just for me. There used to be a time in my life where I thought just because I like taking portraits, I thought I always had to take photos of people. I learned that by taking photos consistently of things other than people, my skill and passion for taking photos stays relevant and grows significantly. When I go on little photo adventures, I don’t go in with a plan of what I want to take photos of. The only plan I have is to wander around and enjoy my surroundings. I usually will go with one other person, so yes there will be a few portraits in the mix, but I also will take photos of random things that I see and find interesting. By going on these little photo adventures, it helps train my eye to focus on composition, it helps free my soul to not feel constricted by a concept or one subject, and it renews my energy to put back into my portrait work that I love to gift to all of you!

Here are photos that I took in Lake George:

Roller Skatin'

A couple weeks ago, Brooke came to me with an idea to take photos at our local roller rink with the inspiration from one of Kendall Jenner’s recent instagram photos. We are so thankful for The Fun Spot being so accommodating and letting us use their space! This was also my first time using external flashes for some of the photos. For those of you trying to figure out flash for the first time, you would know that it takes a minute to get everything just right. Brooke was amazingly patient with me while I was setting up with all of my equipment. As a mainly natural light photographer, It was fun to be able to play around with color gels, a mag mod, and other flash modifications. Also shout out to the Gary Fong for always being a go to for me in inside places for an even, soft light (perfect for event photography)! Check out this BTS video up top and the final images down below!

Photos In the MASS MoCA

On Monday, Johanna Brady and I explored the MASS MoCA for the first time. I had planned on coming here for over a year because I was inspired by a photo that someone took with their phone at the museum. I have never been to a modern/contemporary art museum before, so I was really excited to go. I finally got the chance to come over my spring break! I brought my camera along and vlogged certain parts of our adventure and also took professional photos at exhibits that were worth doing so. Because I do value experience and art, I didn’t photograph by every art piece or exhibit we went to. Thank you to Johanna and the MASS MoCA for a wonderful experience. I will for sure be back someday soon!
