Adventures In Aruba

On January 5th, my extended family and I went on vacation to Aruba. Along most of our trip, I took videos of all of the things we did! Click on the link up top to see my full adventure in Aruba!

While I was there I also took many, many photos, but I only used my camera a few days out of the whole week. Although I think capturing the moment is super important, I also think living in the moment is needed as well. I designated a few days to bring my camera to take photos with me and I enjoyed the beautiful weather and experience fully during the others. Here’s what I captured of my family, surroundings, and of my adventure in the island of Aruba!

How to take a more interesting portrait

I have waited way too long to get this personal project out to all of you! Through the busy times in college, the holidays, and all of the rush orders everyone has wanted to get for their families, this vision engrained in my mind for the past few months hasn’t been completed and posted until now. Here’s a video for all of you on how to create a more interesting portrait. I will be posting some of the full photos that I took for this project down below with a brief description, but for more you have to watch the video! Please enjoy this as my gift to all of you. Kayla:

We used bokeh and a prism to add an extra flare to the foreground and background.

Grace:

We focused on creating movement by freezing motion, creating light trails, and long exposures.

Danny:

We used window. glass to create texture and reflections.

Brooke:

We used mirrors to capture her at different perspectives and backlighting to put a small twist on a “regular” portrait.

Alyssa:

We made hard highlights and shadows on her face.

Ali:

We shot through objects found in our surroundings with a low depth of field.

Aaron:

We used a projector and shined the photo on him to create a whole new image.
