How to take a more interesting portrait

I have waited way too long to get this personal project out to all of you! Through the busy times in college, the holidays, and all of the rush orders everyone has wanted to get for their families, this vision engrained in my mind for the past few months hasn’t been completed and posted until now. Here’s a video for all of you on how to create a more interesting portrait. I will be posting some of the full photos that I took for this project down below with a brief description, but for more you have to watch the video! Please enjoy this as my gift to all of you. Happy Holidays everyone!

P.S. Thank you to all of the models who took time out of their day to help me with this project and did a wonderful job at that!

Kayla:

We used bokeh and a prism to add an extra flare to the foreground and background.

Grace:

We focused on creating movement by freezing motion, creating light trails, and long exposures.

We used mirrors to capture her at different perspectives and backlighting to put a small twist on a “regular” portrait.
