The Perfect Day At Yaddo

If you're from the Saratoga area, you've definitely heard of Yaddo Gardens. Right next to Saratoga Race Track lies a beautiful and tucked away little garden with tons a flowers, a walk way, and a large blue fountain. During the summer months photographers flood here to take portraits of families, seniors, and especially weddings. It was no surprise to me when Kiana told me that she wanted to have her senior portraits there! Its hard not to get beautiful photos at Yaddo. When we arrived, we started all the way in the back where there was a small path in the woods. Since we started 2 hours before sunset, the sun was still a little harsh, so the woods provided some nice shade and some pretty rad lighting. Kiana's yellow outfit was also the cutest and tied all of the colors around her in so nicely. Not many people can pull off yellow very well, but I have to say that she rocked it. We continued taking photos on the path and incorperated some plants and flowers in there as well. We continued, working our way toward the fountain slowly as the light got softer and softer. One challenge was the fact that there were so many photographers there with their own shoots. Trying to stay out of the way of their shoots and not getting them in our own background wasn't too difficult, but I had to get pretty creative at some points. Although we probably weren't supposed to, (shhh) we also walked into one of the gated gardens to get some close ups surrounded with the exoticly colored flowers. No flowers were harmed in the making of this photoshoot ;) Of course we couldn't leave without a photo by the locally famous iron gate! It was worth waiting in the line of other photographers trying to get their own shots here. Lastly we went to the fountain during golden hour where the trees didn't block that much of the sunlight. Here not only did we get some more shots of Kiana, but her boyfriend jumped in a couple as well! Thanks for a great shoot guys. I loved working with Kiana and her family!!!

Look at the "Skye"

IMG_6021.jpg

It's senior season as they say! Time for senior portraits, senioritis, and taking the first small step into adulthood. Meet Skye, our first 2019 senior of the year! Skye's shoot was beyond interesting in the best way possible (except for the part when my GPS lead me to the complete wrong place ;( That was a story in itself, but I still made it to the shoot on time.) Meeting Skye for the first time was awesome because I knew we'd click right of the bat! She's funny and knows when to laugh, which is a great quality to have! I also loved how quirky she was. Talk about having beauty inside and out! We were able to take photos on a beautiful property in Lake George filled with stone, flowers, and an incredible view of the mountains and lake. From sitting on a stone staircase, to sniffing flowers, and dancing in a garden, I'd say we had a fun time shooting. One of the things that I can't stress enough about shooting with my clients is that things don't have to be so serious. You are here to have fun and create some amazing memories, I'll do the rest to capture the magic. Toward the end of Skye's senior shoot, she put her feet in the water and some baby ducks swam right next to her! I love being able to capture real moments of joy like this with you guys! The one thing that also stuck out in my mind was the pink clouds forming at the end of our time together. While Skye was standing in the water I said, "Look at the sky, it's beautiful!" The pun was not intended, but indeed both the sky and Skye were drop dead gorgeous!

Nature Walk

IMG_4229.jpg

As we emerge into the middle of summer, I try not to do so many model shoots because I want as many spaces as possible for client's events, senior portraits, and many other shoots during this time. I had to sneak this one in there before business really picked up though. Follow Brooke and I through an enchanting looking forest that was really just in our towns own backyard. We used Rush Pond's trail systems and Brooke's beautiful dress made it come to life. One of my favorite pairings in this shoot is the green from the woods and Brooke's red hair. Im actually obsessed with these tones! We walked down the trail, racing the sun during golden hour, until we came to this beautiful bridge! We walked a little further into a field of ferns, which also came with BUGS! When I say Brooke took one for the team, I mean it when I tell you she stood in the swarm of them while shooting. then, we kind of tied daisies into the shoot as well since the both of us LOVE this type of flower. In the begining, I had Brooke pose near some of the flowers and then after the ferns we put some in her hair. I'm super grateful to work with such amazing and fun people and I can't wait to go on more photo adventures with models, clients, and friends! See you next time with Autumn Moon Portraits :)
