I'm apart of a photography group that does a weekly photo contest. No, the winner doesn't win a big prize, its just a friendly competition. Each week we vote on a topic to use for our submission photo and the top three winners get their photo posted on an Instagram page, @shutterupfam. A couple weeks ago, the theme was pink, and at that time I was binge watching the second season of Riverdale on Netflix. This is pretty corny but Riverdale actually inspired my idea for the photo that week. The neon light in Pop's diner and the cyan blue that always came through the windows sparked an idea in my head. I asked my friend, Selah, to help me out on this little adventure. I wanted to find some neon signs and take photos of her next to them during blue hour. I wanted to get the same feel as the shows light and coloring, except I knew if we found a red sign I would have to change the tone a little bit for the contest from red to pink. We headed to Lake George because I knew there were some neon signs in the village. It was my mistake that I had forgotten about Americade that was that very weekend! We fought through the enormous crowd of people who came to see the motorcycles. Here's a few photos we got out of the couple neon signs that we found. Fighting through crowds and having people stare at us was definitely worth it. Even though the intention for the photo was to have more pink tones, the original tones were based off of blue and red. I decided that it would be perfect to post for July 4th because of the color scheme and it wasn't the typical firework or sparkler photo that you see. I guess that was a long explanation for the title, but please enjoy my efforts.
Best Friend Giveaway
Last month I decided to a giveaway for best friends to win a shoot together! Through Instagram everyone posted a photo on their stories with their inner circle and we chose 3 random winners! Unfortunately the third giveaway winner wasn't able to make it last minute, so here are two beautiful groups of girls who did win. Thank you all for all your support and I love being a part of this community.
Meet Haylee, Vivian, and Jensyn! These three gorgeous girls were the first winners. We went to downtown glens falls for a more urban feel during golden hour. Our first stop was a near by parking garage on the top level. From there you could see the whole city. All of the roads, trees, and buildings lay in the background. Did I mention that the sky was also perfect at this time? It not only was golden hour, but there was a soft layer of cloud allowing the sun to peak through for even softer light. After we conquered the top floor, we headed down to the street for some more photos along the buildings and roads. To end, we went to the little park area next to the library for a little more greenery! I couldn't believe how young these girls were because of how stunning they looked and they were incredible to take pictures with!
Next was Bri and Naomi! It was pretty cool to see Naomi again because she had modeled for me in the past and I enjoyed seeing her relationship and dynamic with Bri. This dynamic duo was so laid back and care free. I enjoyed joking around with them while we took photos by the lake. The best part about my job is connecting with people like this and I no longer feel like I'm working. From the sand, to the docs, and then to get ice cream it was! Even the cloudy weather couldn't ruin the summer vibes; it just added to the overall beauty!
