In high school, I had the pleasure of growing significantly in my photography and art skills! I went to Queensbury High School with an amazing art program and many rad teachers as well. My homeroom and English teacher, Kerry Bundy, was a pretty big influence in my growth during this time. I know you're probably wondering how my English teacher helped me with art, but she never gave up on me, even as my grades slipped and my performance changed over the years. She was also a leader of a club where students put together a literary magazine called, Seeing Blue! I submitted art to the magazine 2 years in a row, and the second year, I became a member of the club as one of two designers for the magazine itself! She got to be involved during a lot of my artistic processes that year and I was pretty close with her. Who knew that a year later I'd be taking photos of her entire family! I was so thrilled when she asked me to come to this anniversary party that her and her sister were throwing for their parents. They had hit the big 50 mark in years of marriage! Congrats Bob and Karen!!!. When I arrived at their house, we started out by taking some family portraits before the rest of the guests arrived. Bob and Karen had a beautiful property right on the water with so much grass and flowers; perfect for photos. Taking photos for this laid back group was a blast and the only challenging thing was learning everyone's names because there's so many of them. I made sure to get the whole group, individual families, and of course the happy couple! After portraits were over, many, many, many candids were taken. Loved ones and friends gathered and started to dig into the delicious food that was catered. The kids ran off to play in the beautiful tree house that was still being built, and others went straight to the rope swing over the water. I could literally feel the joy in the air from everyone as they awaited the toast that Kerry and her sister made for their parents. Of course, Kerry, being the English teacher, made the most wonderful speech about how they grew up and what their parent's love meant to them! My favorite moment was later when Bob and Karen cut their beautiful cake using the same knife from their wedding! Sharing and capturing moments like these are what I live for!!!
